Frequently Asked QuestionsIs the dog good with cats or kids?We get this question a lot! The answer is we do not know. We can guess by their temperament that they might be good, but we have no way of knowing for sure. The only way to know is to go ahead and schedule a meet & greet and meet them and then take them home and see how things go. We have a two week return policy. What shots/treatment are your dogs given? All of our dogs over 6 months are fully vaccinated, de-parasited and given rabies vaccinations. When you adopt one of our dogs you will receive its full medical record with all recordings of shots and treatments given. Puppies, due to age may not have their full vaccination or rabies. You will be given special instructions when to continue a puppies vaccination and when to administer a rabies vaccination. Some of our dogs may have been given special medication to treat for various other ailments. If one of our dogs requires continued medication for a condition, we will list this in our dogs profile and also advise you during the meet and greet. Are your dogs healthy? We do the best we can to rehabilitate our dogs to the best of our ability. Our dogs are healthy and have been given extensive medical attention. If a dog is special needs or has a chronic or ongoing medical condition we always will inform potential adopters of this in our dogs profiles and during the meet and greet. We have successfully adopted out dogs with special needs, such as being deaf or partially blind, with great success to wonderful happy homes. What comes with the dog when we adopt them? You will receive the dog's medical record with all its medical information and medication and treatment given. We advise all of our new adopters to get their new adoptions checked out by their vet and even offer a free medical examination through Woodside Animal Hospital. Why do you have an adoption donation? It is very expensive to provide rescue and rehabilitation efforts for the dogs we rescue. The adoption fee is a donation that helps us to continue to do the work that we do. How much is the adoption fee?The suggested adoption donation can vary depending on the dog. Please inquire when you fill out the adoption application. Where did the dog come from? What is the dog's history?Almost 99% of our dogs are abandoned and neglected dogs that we rescue from the streets. Occasionally, people surrender dogs to us either anonymously at our facility or that we initiate, by rescuing them from hoarding situations. We often have no idea what precipitated the dog being abandoned or ending up in that situation so we have very little background information about our dogs. Do you have a place where I can come and see the dog?Our facility is located in Baja and we welcome anyone to come down and visit our facility if they wish to. However, it is usually easy to set up a meet and greet appointment at one of our adoption events. Do you spay/neuter your dogs?We spay/neuter all are dogs that are 6 months or older. If you adopt a dog before it is spayed/neutered then we have you sign a contract to agree to spay/neuter as soon as the dog reaches age. We do not adopt any of our dogs out for breeding purposes. How long does the adoption process take?It can take upwards of about 7 days starting from the time the application is submitted. It may take longer in particular situations when puppies are involved. It will take 24-72 hours for the application to be processed and someone to get back to you to set up a meet and greet appointment. I submitted my application, but have not heard anything. Please contact us via email or phone to follow up. Is you organization a non-profit?Yes. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization and have been since 2010. I live out of state but will be in San Diego visiting, can I adopt with you?Yes. We are open to adopting dogs to people that live out of state or even out of the country. You must of course be able to get to San Diego to pick up your adopted dog. We do not do any transport. I want to adopt with you for another person, can I do that?Yes. We are open to working with you on this. Do you have a particular breed? Our dogs are all street rescues or surrenders, so we do not know which breeds we will have at any time. Also, because we do not know the back-story of many of our dogs, we do the best we can to identify the breed of the dog through our vets. We do not guarantee any of our dogs are purebred and we also promote them as mixed. Is this dog available for adoption? We update our Facebook, Adoptapet and Petfinder sites every 48 hours so if you see a dog listed then there is a very good chance that it is available for adoption. How can I donate to you?You are welcome to donate through PayPal on our website or by mailing us a check or money order. You are also welcome to come by one of our Adoption Events, which is every Saturday, to donate to us directly. When is your next adoption event? We are at Petco on Sports Arena Blvd every Saturday from 9am-4pm. You can always check on our events page to see when our next adoption event is. |
